Energy stored in an inductor
Consider a coil connected to a battery and a switch is in series .when the switch is closed ,the current begins to follow.
V is the voltage across the ends of coil and current
through it rises from zero to max-value due to change of current ,an emf is induced,which is opposite to that of battery.
Work is done by the battery in moving a small charge Δq is given by
