1 INGREDIENTS

Butter or margarine 75 g

Liquid apple sauce 350 g

Flour 700 g

Soda bicarbonate, sifted 1 tbsp

Vanilla essence 2 tbsp

Cinnamon 2 tbsp

Nutmeg 1 tbsp

Raisins 250 g

Walnuts 250 g

Sugar 350 g

Apple Sauce Ingredients

Apples 1 kg

Butter 25-50 g
2 COOKING DIRECTIONS
1. Cream butter or margarine in a large bowl, add sugar and beat well.

Add apple sauce, a little at a time, beating well till all apple sauce is consumed.
This may curdle a little. Gradually add flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, soda and blend well.
Add vanilla essence and the nuts and raisins that have been sprinkled with flour to prevent them from sinking to the bottom while baking.
Use an 8 inch baking tin.
Bake in a preheated oven at gas mark 4/180º C for 45-60 minutes.
Apple Sauce Direction: Peel, core and slice apples and cook in a covered saucepan to a pulp.
Beat with a wooden spoon and add the butter.
