Plan to push up power generation by 2700 MW ISLAMABAD: Following the completion of private sector projects, the generation of electricity in the country would go up by
2700 Megawatts.
Caretaker Minister for water and power, Tariq Hameed told the media that the Private Power Infrastructure Board has been directed to remove the obstacles in the way of the completion of hydel electricity generation projects so that the gap between the supply and demand could be abridged.
He said that the work on two projects of 286 MW has already started, while others were in their preliminary process. He said that 150 MW would be obtained from windmills in 2008, while 600 houses would be provided solar energy.
