Big Memory Virtual Speedup If you have 1GB of memory or more, you should tell Windows to stop paging drivers and certain system programs out to disk. The speed gains won’t be much, but changing things won’t hurt: There’s no need for Windows to put those programs out to pasture. To tell Windows to keep those programs in memory: Navigate to the key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ Session Manager\Memory Management. On the right, double-click the value name DisablePagingExecutive and change the value data to 1. Click OK. Choose File➪Exit to get out of Regedit. You need to restart your computer for the change to take effect. |
