Set" First Lecture of Sir.Shehzad 2 Attachment(s) Math for IT-I SET: A collection of well-defined, distinct things is called set. Empty Set: f = { } A set having no element is called empty set. For example: Students of BS (IT) having age less than Five Year. Subset (?) If A & B are two sets AND all elements of A lies in B then A is Subset of B. A= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} B= {1, 2, 3 ?} A ? B or A Contain in B There are two types of Subsets
Proper Subset: If B has at least ONE more element than in A, Then A is the proper Subset of B. A= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} B= {1, 2, 3 ?} A ? B Improper Subset: If B and A has same elements then A is improper subset of B. And so on. A= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} B= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} A ? B Some Things to Remember: Natural Numbers : N= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5?} Whole Numbers : W= {0, 1, 2, 3, 4?} Integers : Z= {0, +1, +2, +3, +4, +5?} Odd Numbers : O= {+1, +3, +5, +7?} Even Numbers : E= {+2, +4, +6, +8?} Rational Numbers : Q= {p/q & p,q ? Z & q ?0} Irrational Numbers : Q?= {The Numbers that are Not Rational Are called Irrational} Real Numbers : ?= {Q U Q?} ? A number whose square is positive is a real number ? A number whose square is negative is complex number. |
