Thane pipeline collapsed; train service halted
Kopri, primarily a residential Colony, is situated on the eastern side of Thane Railway station, Maharashtra, India. The residences of IAS and senior officers as well as the High court and civil court Judges of Thane city and Thane district also lies in this area ( Bara Bunglow ). There is also a Koliwada & Kopari Gaon or fisherman colony of original inhabitants who lived there and on the coast line. Marathi is the dominant language in the area and the area. After the Partition of India, around 10,000 Sindhi refugees were provided housing in 25 buildings, called blocks. Over time, other residential societies and complexes were constructed in and around the blocks. Even today, lot of the people in Kopri are Sindhis.

Thane: The train services on Mumbai Central line halted when a water pipeline collapses near Thane-Mulund route, sources said.

According to the sources, the lifeline of Mumbai, local train services, were came to halt following the pipeline collapse near Thane-Kopari stations.

The pipeline was crashed on a suburban train near Thane-Mulund route. No casualties reported so far. Fire brigade officials and several workers have been pressed to remove the wreckage from the track. Eyewitnesses said that some people were trapped inside the bogie.

Meanwhile, all the passengers trapped inside the debris rescued.

The local train services were only allowed to Ghatkopar following the Thane train mishap. The traffic was completely halted on this route. No trains were plying towards Thane or CST at this moment. Train traffic was also halted between Thane-Kurla.

As many as four railway tracks in CST were flooded and now blocked after the mishap.

Major task ahead for Railways officials as today is working day and people will face difficulties to reach their destinations. The rescue Operation has been hampered as huge quantity of water gushing out of the broken pipeline.

Railway officials said that the train services are likely to be resumed by the evening but they are non-committal about the time.

As of now, it seems that the people will face difficulties in the evening as it will take time to remove the debris from track.
