Students of four-year BS (Hons) programme with six male and female colleges of the province are suffering a lot due to inordinate delay in conducting examination by the Punjab University, it is learnt on Wednesday. Sources said that more than 6,000 students of BS (Hons) programme of six colleges including MAO College, Government Science College Wahdat Road, Islamia College Civil Lines, Queens Marry College and two colleges of Gujranwala have been waiting for their second semester's final-term examination for one and half month.
Punjab University Center for Undergraduate Studies had announced that the examination of second semester's final-term of BS (Hons) session 2010-14 in 19 different disciplines including Science, English, Mass Communication, Arts, Commerce, Psychology and others would be commenced in the first week of August 2011. But, the sources said, the university did not finalise the date so far.
It may be mentioned here that due to uncertainty, the students are skipping the institutions and the drop out ratio is on the rise. It appears that the BS programme may fail in the beginning because of the lethargic attitude of the concerned authorities. nior teacher of PU Center for Undergraduate Studies seeking anonymity said that examination was being delayed as the external paper setters did not submit the papers to the university.
