The University of Punjab produced a record number of 425 PhDs in a short span of three and a half years and all PhD research theses were approved by foreign experts of leading international universities.Talking to APP here Sunday, PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said all PhD theses were evaluated by external experts to improve research work and bring it on a par with international standards. He said in past, only 734 PhDs were produced during a period of 1990-2007.He said it was unfortunate that only 22 per cent faculty members of all universities in Pakistan were PhDs whereas hardly 33 per cent teachers in the PU were PhDs which was insufficient. He said that now all 83 professors and 52 Associate Professors of PU are PhD while 69 PU teachers are doing PhDs abroad.
