The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) is starting a five-year fellowship programme in the field of emergency medicine in collaboration with Ireland. Consultants will be available in emergency and patients will be cured in more facilitating ways in the aftermath of introducing the programme. CPSP Vice President Prof Khalid Masood Gondal made the announcement during a meeting with an eight-member Irish delegation, headed by Prof Gerald Bury, that visited the CPSP on Saturday. Talking on the occasion, Prof Khalid Masood Gondal said that the institution had started the Masters programme in medical education under the leadership of CPSP Council President Prof Zafarullah Chaudhry. He said that by the virtue of this degree, all the hospital across the country could have specialist doctors in their emergency departments. The vice president gave a comprehensive presentation about the effective role the CPSP was playing in providing medical education in the country as well as abroad. Meanwhile, Prof Gerald Bury informed that the doctors will be trained in Ireland for one year after completing the first two study years in Pakistan and will take examination after completion of the two-year period of research and training in Pakistan.
