jo paniyon pe jhaag thay wo kia maqaam ker gaye
hame khyaal-o-khwaab mai na koi ab amaan dy
kay ham wisaal-o-hijer ki hadood se guzer gaye
hamari marg-o-zeesat k mizaaj bhi ajeeb thay
jiye to eik daag thay, mray to rang bher gaye
suna hai log chun rahy hain ab hamari kirchiyan
hame to kuch khaber nahi kidher kidher bikher gaye
wo saat rang hame to hain jo mil k roshni hoy
khulay hamaray lab to goya saat surr bikher gaye
jo seel seel thay kabhi jo mom mom thy kabhi
wo aab aab yun hoy k bertanu mai bhar gaye
na mai koi nazeer tha na meri her sada ghazal
wo mere char ashak thy jo itna kaam ker gaye
