Default PEEF 261 scholarships for PU students

THE Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) has announced that 261 scholarships will be awarded to the Punjab University s postgraduate needy students for the academic year 2011-12.
According to a press statement, 215 scholarships will be given to science graduate students and 46 to arts students. Final selection will be made upon completion of admission process at postgraduate level by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee.
The PEEF had allocated 131 scholarships, amounting to Rs 9.35 million, for the PU needy postgraduate students during the last academic year, 2010-2011.
PU results: Punjab University s Examinations Department on Friday announced the results of various examinations.
These exams include MS Communication Studies (Morning), Semester System, Session 2008-2010, MSc Communication Studies (Film & Television Production), Semester System, Session 2008-2010, Master of Business Economics (MBEcon), Semester System, Session 2009-2011, Master of Economics (Morning), Semester System, Session 2009-2011 and BS Microbiology & Molecular Genetics (4-Year Programme), Session 2007-2011.
Prosperity: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said the prosperity of any nation is not possible without promoting education and research.
Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony of a five-day workshop on Research Methodology & Development organised by a medical college in collaboration with a centre for research & consultation, he said Pakistani government should invest in research programmes in the country.
Chief Executive of centre for research & consultation Dr Haroon Ehsan, Chairperson Executive Committee of medical college Dr Shahima Rehman and postgraduate trainee doctors from various colleges of Lahore were present. Dr Mujahid Kamran said promotion of education had never been remained amongst the priorities of any single Pakistani government. He urged the national leadership to allocate at least four percent of GDP for education every year.
