Skype also adds in-app advertising to its Android clients

Skype has released version 2.5 of its application for Android, which allows Android-based tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Motorola Xoom to use its video calling feature.

The two tablets are among 14 Android-based devices that now can make video calls; other additions include Motorola Droid 3, LG Optimus Black and Acer Iconia. This brings the total number of video-compatible devices to 41, Skype announced in a blog post.
Skype version 2.5 for Android also allows users to switch between portrait and landscape mode during calls, and zoom in with a double tap on the screen, Skype said.

The company has also improved support for Bluetooth headsets and included a number of bug fixes and performance enhancements.
Last but not least, the software will from now on include ads for some users. To keep it ad free, users need Skype Credit, a Calling or Skype Premium subscription, according to Skype. The in-app advertising will not be enabled on some smaller screen sizes, it said without elaborating.
