Default Schools, colleges reopen tomorrow

Academic activities will resume after educational institutions reopen on Monday (tomorrow). A large number of private schools had announced reopening their campuses after Eid ul Fitr despite the government announcement to reopen campuses from August 15. Though, following the government directions, public schools and colleges reopened after annual summer vacation, attendance remained thin during last couple of weeks. Unlike at schools, academic activities have yet to commence at colleges and universities because of the ongoing admissions process for undergraduate and postgraduate there.
Colleges and varsities have offered admission for their postgraduate programs as the Punjab University (PU) has already announced result of BA/BSC annual examination, 2011. It is pertinent to mention that admissions to graduate courses would formally begin after declaration of result of intermediate annual examination 2011 by all the eight boards of the province on September 10.
Meanwhile, a number of boarding students as well as teachers who had gone to their hometowns to celebrate Eid ul Fitr have started returning to the provincial metropolis. Inter result on 10th: THE Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISEs) across the province will announce the result of Intermediate Part-II Annual Examination 2011 on September 10.
According to BISE Lahore’s Controller of Examinations Ijaz Naqvi, around 150,000 candidates had appeared in the said exam from Lahore board alone. He said a press conference would also be held on September 9 to announce the position holders of the exam.
