Name: Prickles
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Pinto African Pygmy Hedgehog
Home: Mansfield, Ohio, USA

I purchased Prickles from a young girl who had purchased her for a 4-H project, the poor thing had been put out in the garage. She was neglected and sad looking, she huffed at me like I was something to fear. They said they had handled her a lot, and that she was potty trained. None of this was true. She was used to eating nasty dollar store cat food. She has begun to huff less when we walk past her cage. She enjoys getting baths and being scrubbed. She enjoys chewing the carpet and anointing her quills with it's scent. She is fairly shy, but does love attention when she's not huffing. Her favorite item is her old band t-shirt that daddy gave her, it smells like old spice. She is happy healthy and oh so cute!

She recently had a day out of her cage, we're trying to get her to socialize with the other animals. She liked the pig, however Nort is not so sure of Prickles. She loves those crunchy kitty treats, she is an odd one because she doesn't like the meal worms like most hedgehogs do. She is our first hedgehog, I couldn't leave her once I found out she was living in a cold garage in winter because some fickle child was done with her 4-H project.

I love her so much! She is not the friendliest of my brood but she has a place in my heart for what she had to go through. She is one of my only animals that does not like to play with the others. She has a strange attachment to daddy, when she first met him she must of liked his smell because she started biting at the armpit of his shirt then she started foaming and anointing her quills with his scent. He immediately took off his shirt and gave it to her, now she lives in it. It is sooo cute.
