Ab voh pehle si shanasai bhi nahi
tanhai to ye hai ke tanhai bhi nahi

hua hai jab se khyaale-yaar hamraah
qurb nahi haasil to judai bhi nahi

dil hai ke jaane khuda kis maqaam
qaid maen bhi nahi rihaai bhi nahi

hui is qadar viraan mehfile tanhai
ke rah gayi ab parchhayee bhi nahi

aap aur bhule mujhe ye kaise mumkin
ab tak to yaad meri aayi bhi nahi

mayoos badaa aap ki bazm se lauta
baat to baat are roonumai bhi nahi

ye kyaa abhi se tang aa gaye aap
abhi kya abhi puri sunaai bhi nahi

ab vohi kare yaad to shayad ho kuch
hai khwabo khyaali itni rasai bhi nahi

kyon na ubhrey shauqe-ghazal sarai
tabiyat ab se pehle kabhi aai bhi nahi

vaham hai yaqeen hai ya khusfahmi
ho ga mujh sa koi shedaai bhi nahi

gustakhiye-qalaam voh karenge muaf
kya unse ab itni aashnaai bhi nahi

parh kar ghazal aap ho gaye khamosh
taareef to ki nahi burrai bhi nahi
