Education govt’s top priority: Raja

Punjab government has given top priority to the promotion of quality education in the public sector institutions. Different holistic reforms have been introduced so that the poor and deserving students could easily get education. During the current fiscal year, a total sum of Rs 800 million has been provided to promote functional-literacy in the marginalised segments of the society.
This was stated by Punjab Education Foundation Chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar while presiding over a meeting of parents and partner school teachers during his visit of partner schools in Baghban Pura.
During the meeting, Raja Anwar maintained that education was the most important fundamental right of every child and therefore, meaningful reforms had been taken during the last three years in Punjab so that all the children could get free education. Market-oriented education and the technological resources help the nations to excel and Pakistan is required to pay special attention to the acquirement of science and technology so that it could become self-reliant in the real sense, he said.
Raja Anwar further said that the education of special children had been given equal importance so that special children could have necessary educational facilities for learning.
He said during the current fiscal year, Rs 500 million have been earmarked for the education of special children.
He asked the parents to send their children to schools so that they could get rid of the vicious circle of poverty. Co-curricular activities help to develop balanced personality in the students; therefore, students should be encouraged to take part in sports and co-curricular activities in the schools, he concluded.
