Private schools set to file plea against BISE negligence

The private schools across the city have decided to file a writ petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education’s (BISE) negligence in the matriculation (grade 9) result as well as the failure of their online system. The petition is set to be moved in the LHC today (Monday). Shaheen Public Girls High School Principal Shahina Tabassum and Asim Science High School Principal Yasin Asim told Daily Times that they had decided to go to the court as the negligence on part of the BISE authorities had disturbed the students as well as the shools’ administrations. They said that the result of 9th class, which was announced on August 25, was full of errors and mistakes, adding that should be cancelled or revised for the better future of students. They added that the BISE administration was constantly making changes in the results of the students, which was serving as a “mental torture” for the students as well as their families. “The authorities recently altered the results of Biology students without giving any explanation or proper reason,” they said, adding that in such a situation none of the students wanted to continue with their studies and were dishearted to the highest extent. Both the principals said that the trend of hiring “loved ones” on higher posts would have to be changed and the officials should think about the future of thousands of students. The Punjab government had appointed Majid Naeem as the IT consultant, a person who had been earlier accused for corruption by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NAB), they said. An inquiry committee should be formed to manage the issue of BISE negligence and the responsible persons should be punished while the negligent staff should be removed, they concluded. arsalan haider.
