Toppers want more budget for education
 
Consistency and focus on studies can ensure high grades for students, said Rida Arshad, the top position holder in PU`s BA/BSc annual examinations, while talking to reporters after the medal and certificate distribution ceremony.
Rida, who earned top position in BSc with psychology, geography and computer science subjects, said the role of teachers was very important in the grooming of students.
“Students can never attain top positions until and unless their teachers are sincere and hard working,” she said.
She said she would do her masters and then doctorate in psychology and join the teaching profession and teach her students with complete sincerity and diligently.
Second position-holder Arfa Waseem said that she wanted to masters in mathematics.
Third position holder Sadia Parveen said she had worked very hard to earn the distinction. She said the crisis in the country could be averted if honest leadership be brought forward with the power of votes.
Iqra Abbas, who bagged top position in BA with Kashmiriyat, Arabic and Persian subjects, stressed the need for improving curriculum and make it innovative and activity-based so that students could channelise their abilities.
She said she was interested in literature, adding she wanted to join the field of international relations and foreign affairs. She said she would also do her masters in English literature.
Second position-holder Muhammad Zahid Zaheer Iqbal said Pakistan was far behind in terms of education among the comity of nations. He said the government must allocate maximum budget for the education sector. He said he would sit in the competition examination to join the country`s civil service.
Third position-holder Muhammad Hamza said he had studied in madaris, adding that madaris were offering better education than universities.
He said better curriculum and best teachers could improve education indicators.
