WELLINGTON: Black Caps scythe through Pakistan's top order on the first day of the second cricket test at the Basin Reserve
The Black Caps have taken control of the second cricket test against Pakistan in Wellington after a rain curtailed opening day.
After a delayed start due to a wet outfield, Pakistan struggled to 161 for six at stumps after an initial opening stand of 60 between Salman Butt and Imran Farhat.
Farhat is not too downcast, saying they have survived quite well and just need to keep concentrating as the conditions are tough.
Black Caps skipper Daniel Vettori took three for 42 while Daryl Tuffey claimed two for 32 in his comeback test. Tuffey says his rhythm has been good over the past few months and it continued yesterday. He recalls the last time he took a wicket was in July 2004 so there was a sense of relief when he got his first on return.
Kamran Akmal will resume on day two on 21 with Mohammad Aamer not out 2.
