BISE fails to announce pending results of intermediate - BZU PAGES: Find Presentations, Reports, Student's Assignments and Daily Discussion; Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan

Students of the intermediate level on Monday number visited Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) office to know about their result and obtain their result cards to get admitted in universities. A number of students also demonstrated and chanted slogans against the Board authorities for ruining one educational year for them. Some of the students were also seen arguing with the officials of the computer section to get information of their results.
The intermediate result was announced on September 10, which was later than the date announced by the board. As a result, more than 10,000 students were placed in the Result Late (RL) category.
After the announcement of the result, a large number of students visited the board office on a daily basis and board officials were unable to resolve the matter even after 10 days. Five universities of the provincial capital have already extended their date of submission of forms for admission in graduate programmes due to the delay in the result.
Some officials of the Lahore Board held that the online system was responsible for the delay, which was imposed on the instruction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The online system of Lahore Board also failed during the registration for matriculation and intermediate examinations and the results of the matriculation exams were also announced late due to a problem in the online system.
An official at the Lahore Board said that the mistake occurred during the compilation of results of different subjects in the computer section. He said that the incompetent staff at the computer section was responsible for entering wrong numbers of subjects on the final result card and that therefore the result of some students was delayed. However, he accepted that the online system was faulty and that the Board would announce the results before the last date of submission of forms of universities.
Officials also held Lahore Board Information Technology Consultant Majid Naeem Lahore Board who had previously been principal of Punjab University College of Information Technology.
A reference against Majid was filed in March on the charge of misappropriation of Rs 2, 797,850 at Punjab University College of Information and Technology (PUCIT) by the National Accountability Bureau. Majid, during his tenure as PUCIT principal, withdrew the amount from university funds without approval by a competent authority.
Lahore Board Seceratary Mushtaq Ahmad Tahir said that the students were responsible for the delay in the result and said that the students who had written the wrong code of subjects on registration forms had not received their results yet. He added that officials of the Lahore Board were working day and night to rectify this mistake.
In reply to a question about IT Consultant Majid Naeem, he said that he was not responsible for the whole scenario as he only prepared software for the Lahore Board, which was working properly. He admitted that it might be due to a mistake by the staff of the computer section.
