Due to prevailing law and order situation all the educational institutions in Karachi have been closed today and examinations have also been postponed.

Enraged people torched several vehicles in various parts of the city.

Fresh spate of targeted killings swept across the city on Wednesday that continued till Thursday morning. Life came to a grinding halt after massive firing in different parts of the metropolis created panic among citizens.

Following mounting tensions shops in Saddar, Shah Faisal Colony, Orangi Town, Qasba Colony and New Karachi were closed. However, police and Rangers assumed the control of the areas and started patrolling.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah have expressed deep concerns over the bloodshed in the city and issued directives to the authorities concerned for taking remedial measures for bringing peace in the city.

In a meeting held at Governor House on Wednesday, both leaders called the representative heads of the coalition government and urged that the elected leaders should play their due role for maintaining peace in the metropolis. Later, Sindh Chief Minister's Spokesman announced that all the school and colleges would remain closed in the city on Thursday.
